Erin Condren Vertical Life Planner: 6 months later!

When I first thought about buying a planner, an expensive one at that, I was seriously skeptical. Honestly I've always liked crafts so the colorful, stickery-possibilities are what caught my attention. Except I didn't know what I would write, if my life was busy enough or if I could afford to maintain it. Six month's later I'm glad I took the step in purchasing my Erin Condren Vertical Life Planner (ECLP). Seriously there are so many things to keep track of and you'll be glad you did. **please note: Don't be afraid..I'm a heavy sticker user, you are welcome to use your planner however you like ;)

A quick list of items you can track:

Health: water intake, medicine, doctor appointments, steps, calories, meals, whether it's leg or arm day, seriously a ton of things here.

School: Class schedule, tests, events, studying hours, holidays.

Household: grocery lists, maybe you're trying to KonMari your home, cleaning schedule, laundry days, replace ac filters..literally any and everything.

Miscellaneous: Bill dues, date nights, game days, tv shows, social media posts, blog and youtube uploads, mileage.

...and Just plain on record keeping, add in stuff you've already done. Make note of that awesome vacation you took last week and what you did each day--whether it was planned or not. Write down your awesome memories, you'll be glad you did in the years to come.

I know you're thinking what I was thinking at first: "but I've gone my entire life without a planner and my life is okay." I thought that until I looked back at how I was keeping upload ideas in a random journal or in my phone, my appointments were spread out all over the world, I'd forget prescriptions. I'd have to call or login in somewhere to look at appointment times or bill amounts/dates..my life was secretly all over the place.

Now there is a certain convenience in looking at my planner and knowing everything, all in one place. If you're unsure if planning is right for you or if the ECLP is right for you try downloading a similar printable page like this one from Townhouse Palette. You could also make a planner layout on notebook paper.

I plan to incorporate a lot more planner posts in my blog posts, simply because it is a huge part of my life. I also film weekly planner videos on my Youtube channel: http://www.Youtube.com/KeshiaGlam. If you guys have any questions or requests just let me know. You can ask about planning on a budget to tracking meals, anything..I can talk about planners alllll day :)

Lifestyle // Diner Goals #WhatIAte

I want 2016 to be different, I want to do things I've always wanted to do this year. There's activities I want to be a part of and places I want to go. Eventually I'm going to compile a list of all of the local things I want to do this year. One of the many things on my bucket list is to eat at an old-fashioned diner. Not a new diner designed to look vintage but an actual old diner. Ya know, the one with the checkered floors, old ketchup bottles and bar stools. Guess what? I found one in a small town not too far from my country town. It was pretty much everything I'd hoped for. I wish I had taken more pictures but hey, I'm still a blogger in progress :) If you're ever in Springridge, Louisiana, United States near shreveport..stop by Sunset Diner and order a philly-cheese steak. I cut the mushrooms and bell peppers ;)

Yes, my fries are at the bottom of the picture. Supposedly, people who spread ketchup all over their fries are people you don't need in your life; but you need me in your life..keep me in your life..please. So, how do you eat your fries -or chips ;)- and ketchup?

Life Update September 2015

Hello my beautiful readers xx I'm going to be filling you guys in on my life and just generally what I've been up to since I've been on a few week hiatus. If you've followed my blog since 2012 then you know despite a few accomplishments, I haven't had it very easy. Most of my life updates consist of bad news, but not this time. I'm in a very good space right now and besides missing my blog, I couldn't be happier!

Firstly, I'm come halfway to completing my first degree in Business Administration! My courses go by so quickly but I'm maintaining a very nice 3.9GPA. Secondly, my brother is healing amazingly!! He'll be getting his prosthetic shortly and then began learning to walk again. Lastly...*drumroll* I started a YouTube channel! I've only posted planner related videos so far, but I'll be adding beauty, fashion and lifestyle videos.
I'm ashamed to say that you guys haven't seen any photos taken with my new DLSR camera. I can't wait to start taking photos of products with it! I've been so caught up with my classes and my channel that I haven't had the time to sit down and blog about all my new products. I think I just got so caught up in the new, that I forgot about my passion--my blog. With that being said I have a ton of reviews that need to get done.
If you're interested in my Youtube channel or enjoy watching planner (Erin Condren, ftw!) videos, here's my channel: Keshia Glam. See you guys next week!

New Obsession: Erin Condren Life Planner (REVIEW)

One day I was on youtube, I watched a "Plan With Me" video and my life changed haha! I remember clicking on the video simply because the paper looked gorgeous and it was decorated so colorfully. At-first I thought, I couldn't imagine how decorating a planner with rainbow stickers could benefit me..3 months later I paid $50+ for an Erin Condren Life Planner and now I'm addicted! I've only decorated two spreads or weeks so far and it's really therapeutic for me. So far. I think my decorating skills aren't too bad for a newbie! I didn't realize how many tasks I have to do on a daily basis, especially now that I've begun multiple classes.

When I started looking at planners I immediately knew that I wanted an Erin Condren Life Planner despite the high cost *insert tears*. I can honestly say that I think it was worth it. Unlike other planner addicts I've seen out there, I don't plan to fill up and cover up everything I paid for inside of the planner. I do love stickers though; especially creating DIY planner decor as it saves a lot of money and is way more affordable on my Etsy sticker addiction.

*Granted, I don't need to write down everything I need to do but it really eases my mind to know that I can look at my planner and know what I have to do/get motivated for the day. Not to mention, decorating my planner gives me extreme joy xx

Erin Condren Life Planner

There were a few issues with certain types of Erin Condren's planners shipping out a month or so later but I experienced no issues with shipping. I absolutely love the cover--the quote, colors and name customization. Because there was a lot of chaos surrounding the June launch; I ordered an 18-month planner therefore my next order will be around December 2016.

The pages of the planner are thick enough to not promote ink bleeding through. The planner comes with a monthly view backed by an entire page of lines for notes. Each month is designated certain colors, which of course with the help of stickers, can be decorated around or covered for a new theme. From what I can see about the last planner, the newly launched planners have a lot less wording, which is great for those of us who want to fully use pages without having to cover everything with a sticker.

At the start of each month, there's a quote decorated in the month's colors and I really love that. I also really love that there's so many blank pages spread throughout the planner for notes which I use for blog post ideas. My Erin Condren Life Planner also came with a plethora of goodies (some are pictured below).

Usually I feel sort of guilty for making purchases over $50 but this time around I don't. I was using an excel calendar for my blog, a checklist app on my phone, random sticky notes and a whiteboard to remember things for my brother and I. Now all of those have been condensed into my Erin Condren Life Planner, so I'm pretty guilt-free haha!

What do you usually use to remember tasks and events throughout the day?

I've started working with more brands; creating much more interesting content and I hope you guys will stick around with HauteDare to celebrate more blogiversaries with me <3

#WOTW II

This week's Words of the Week came to me super easily. I had a really busy week and came across some problems where I just felt overwhelmed and cornered. I think sometimes we move around so much that our troubles only increase. When I thought about how I could have solved some of the issues, I realized that I should have stopped, slowed down and assessed the situation instead of jumping to a solution. I believe this week's #WOTW could apply to any situation. Hope you enjoy <3

Motivational Monday: WOTW #1

I've decided..because we all can use a little motivation, to participate in Motivational Mondays by creating my own small series. Words of the Week (#wotw) will just be a series of posts where I bring you a different quote that I feel like truly motivates me and hopefully it will motivate you too xx

Anytime successful people are asked questions about how they achieved their success, somewhere in the answer is that they never gave up. Whether it's your fitness goals, academic success, or maybe even your blog..don't give up, keep going. Very few things in life are easy and success takes work. That's the best advice I could ever give myself!

5 Apps I Use Everyday

I do a lot on my phone each day. I use it as an alarm, all of my social media, email and editing photos--both selfies and blog photos. I love reading posts about new apps so here are my top 5 apps I use every single day on my iPhone 5.

InstaSize: Free

Nowadays, not a single selfie goes onto Instagram without going through this app. I got annoyed having to crop out most of my photo to fit it into the square of Instagram so this app allows me to zoom my photo in and out to fit it into a square. Say hello to full body Instagram selfies!

Facetune: $3.99

Facetune is seriously my #1 selfie editor but I also use it with my blog photos. With this app I can use the patch tool to cover imperfections, color correct with the tones brush, add filters and naturally light any picture with a ton of more features.

HootSuite: Free

This app satisfies my tweet scheduling needs. Scheduling tweets around the different global time zones really helps out with advertising my blog. I can write out tweets then choose the date and time I need it to be posted.

Checklist+: free

I spent some time looking for a great, simple checklist and this is exactly that. I make multiples lists, swipe to delete and simply check off the items I need. This checklist was especially helpful when I had to pack enough items for my brother and I to travel to another state for a few weeks.

InstaQuote: Free- pay $2.99 to remove label

In the past, I only used InstaQuote for making text posts on Instagram. It's great for tasks like those as you can change the font size, line spacing, and emphasize certain words while designing your own color background or adding your own. Then it hit me: I can add my own background (blog photo), add some writing and change the writing's transparency hence..a watermark. I also have a watermark app that allows you to add your watermark with one button but I just prefer this one.

What are some Apps that you use everyday or just really love?

REVIEW:14-Day Skinny Teatox

skinny teatox review photos taste

I recently had a chance to try something that I've had my eye on for months--detox tea! I received the 14-Day Teatox from Skinny Teatox for the purpose of reviewing. I was super excited to try it out and so far I'm not disappointed. Skinny Teatox isn't a miracle formula but it is designed to boost your metabolism, cleanse and detoxify, increase energy levels and suppress your appetite. I don't expect to lose pounds of weight, maybe a bit of water weight; but I'd just like for this tea to help me get on track with my appetite.

"All the ingredients in Skinny Teatox are 100% natural. There are no chemicals or preservatives. Ingredients include: tea leaves, senna leaf, ginseng, chrysanthemum, cinnamon bark, cloves, rhubarb, ginger, and more." -Skinny Teatox

The 14-Day program I was sent includes an info pamphlet, 14-day supply of the loose-leaf morning tea (pictured above), 7-day supply of night teabags which are to be drunk every other night, and a strawberry filter (which I love).

I'm currently on Day 7 of the Skinny Teatox program and I'll be posting my final results on my social accounts (links below). So far I do have more energy, less of an appetite and I feel less bloated than I did before starting the program which is exactly what I wanted from the program.

I won't say that the morning tea tastes delicious, but it doesn't taste awful. It definitely tastes better than the night tea, a mild laxative detox that has had no effect on me so far. The night tea contains no caffeine, so it won't interrupt your sleeping habits.

I will be updating more about Skinny Teatox on my social accounts, so check those out if you're interested xx

Have you tried any of the ever-growing list of detox teas?

My (random) Month of May in Photos

Hey beauties! My month of May was filled with many ups and downs, laughter and tears! My brother and I took a medical trip to the state of Georgia regarding his injury. Wheeling him through an international airport was quite the experience. Who knew mini-trains could run through an airport? We didn't get the news that we wanted to hear about his injury which really dampened our spirit. However, everything works out how it is supposed too right? So there's no reason to be down...now let's get into my random month of May!

My brother and I randomly decided to went to grab some breakfast at Denny's one Saturday morning, I tried a really yummy strawberry-banana smoothie and we shared these amazing nachos.

I went absolutely nowhere this night I decided to play in face products.

My girlfriend and I are in somewhat of a long distance r'ship. She came to see me and we went out to get Mongolian stir-fry and they have the best drinks there. This is also where I had my first fishbowl! Before we went to eat she surprised me with this gorgeous ring that I love oh so much.

How was your month of May? Did anything exciting happen?

May Favorites 2015 ft. Kat Von D & MAC

may favorites 2015

Kat Von D Tattoo Liner
My go-to liner at the moment. I was so happy when I finally purchased it that I blogged about it here. Its little, precise tip goes perfectly for my small lids which makes a world of difference how my makeup looks.

Freeman's Oatmeal & Avocado Clay Mask
An oldie but goody, I've started back using this clay mask after repurchasing it in full size about a year ago. This mask makes my skin feel amazing;it tightens my skin and cleans my pores so well!

MAC 125se Brush
This is the most expensive item in my favorites this month, who would've thought it'd be a makeup brush? Oh how I adore its split fibres. I've used it to contour with every chance I get since buying! See my MAC 125 review here.

Helados Ice Cream Bar
I took this little baby for granted all the times I passed by it in the only convenience store in my town. It's not like any other ice cream bar I've tried. I've only tried the fresa or strawberry flavor, but it's satisfying enough!

Diamond Heart Ring
This gorgeous baby from Kay's Jewelry was given to me by my lovely girlfriend. It's so beautiful, I love that I finally have a ring that I can always wear with anything and show the world, hey I'm loved haha shameful or no?

What were some of your favorites this month?

Talkative Tuesday: Life Update..Stay-at-home SISTER?

Hello beauties. I haven't done a life update in over a year. I like to do life updates as a way to add a personal feel to my blog. I usually get pretty nice feedback on these kind of posts so let's get started!

-Personal
I haven't really talked much about the major event that changed my life back in December 2014. One reason is because it's really a sensitive topic and it's a legal issue. Long story short my brother was seriously injured at his workplace. His injuries involved 2 amputations; his foot and parts of the foot had to be reattached. Needless to say he can't walk or fiend for himself and that's where I come in at. Whatever he needs I'm there for and sometimes it really dampens my spirits to see him in such a state but I'm also extremely grateful. His healing process will be a slow one and I'll be here for every step of the process, from tons of doctor visits to handing him water in the middle of the night.

I'll be using this time to focus on my blog, enrolling in online classes and maybe even start a YouTube channel. In my last life update, I told you guys that I'd earned my Esthetician license and that I had started classes for my degree. I'll be continuing with my degree in Business Marketing.

-Blog
I'm almost at 300 bloglovin' followers, which is amazing for me considering all that I've been through since I've started blogging. I'd love to do a giveaway when I reach 300! I've been spending a lot of time on twitter, which has got me to thinking that I'd love to start a USA beauty blogger chat, even though I love participating in #bbloggers and #fblchat. I honestly missed blogging on my blog regularly; I missed interacting with others with my same interest. Besides my immediate family, you guys are who I talk to daily.

My questions for you guys:
1. How often should a blogger post sponsored posts?
2. What brands would you like to see in a giveaway?
3. How often should a blogger post during one week?

REVIEW: 719 Walnut Avenue 3-wick Candle (Bath and Body Works Dupe)

719 Walnut Avenue 3-wick Candles Bath and Body Works Dupe

There has been a lot of chatter going on about the candles that recently appeared on the shelves at Walmart--the 719 Walnut Avenue candle. The main reason being is that it looks so much like our beloved Bath & body works candles for about 1/4th of the cost. All of the candles I saw were $4.93 where Bath and Body Works candles are priced at $22.50 when a sale is not going on. Everyone wants to know: is it a dupe?

My mama taught me one thing about candles: if you can rub the top of the candle and oil is on your finger...it's a winner. Needless to say, I gave it a test and it passed! These candles were found in the cleaning section with the air fresheners and brand name candles instead of the candle aisle. This candle smells amazing, the scent filled my house quickly and I'm just generally in love with this candle. It burns evenly throughout and I found that it burned the same time-wise, if not better.  From what I can tell, they originally looked similar to Yankee Candles.

"Find your own seaside retreat with a tropical blend of fruits, coconut, milk and sugarcane."

I would say Caribbean Villa smells tropical with tiny hints of floral; I caught whiffs of coconut, mango and maybe some exotic berries. The overall scent is great; it's tropical but more of a sweet tropical and not so tropical that the scent overwhelms you.  I will definitely be repurchasing more of these little babies as they are perfect, affordable dupes for the Bath and Body Works 3-Wick Candles. Not to mention, these candle jars will be just as perfect for my makeup brush holders as the bath and body works jars are!
