WISHLIST: 9 Fall/Winter Liquid Lipsticks

Autumn or Fall (whichever!) is upon us and liquid lipsticks are all the rage right now! What started out as a quest for the prettiest matte lip for the Fall season turned into a full-on wishlist! Liquid Lipsticks usually are matte and have a felt-tip. Good quality liquid lipsticks are known to stay put for hours, just remember to moisturize your lips! Check out which shades I decided on:

A. Anastasia Beverly Hills Midnight

B. Kat Von D Black Cherry

C. ABH Trust Issues

D. Too Faced Black Plum

E. Jeffree Star Blue Velvet

F. NYX Stone Fox

G. NYX Stand Storm

H. Sleek Matte Me

Have you tried any liquid lipsticks? Which of these is your favorite?

Finally purchased Kat Von D Tattoo Liner-Trooper!

The Kat Von D Tattoo Liner has already been raved about but I decided that since I've wanted it for such a long time, I'd do my own quick review just because I have seen a few mixed reviews from other beauty bloggers!

Kat Von D Tattoo Liner Trooper

Kat Von D Tattoo Liner Trooper

Kat Von D's liner is always talked about for its very fine tip--just perfect for winged eyeliner. What I like about this liner is that the tip itself doesn't get as messy or dry out as fast as other liners. I've had eyeliners that have such a long tip that more product ends on my lashes than the line of my eye!

I also like the fact that the liner is buildable--I can do a quick swipe or I can go over the line multiple times for a dramatic black without the liner appearing cakey, which is one of my biggest issues. I'm not much a pencil liner gal at all, I've used liquid eyeliners since before I knew how to use them properly haha! I'm still not sure if I prefer my eyeliner pens over my liquid liner. I'm so happy I finally purchased it, as it was definitely not a disappointment.

Is Kat Von D's Tattoo Liner in your makeup collection?

BH Cosmetics Rose Blush Duo Review

Hey Beauties! I'm really starting to get into blushes, not just pinks but also the browns and corals. I purchased my first blush from BH Cosmetics and I don't know if I like the blush or the highlight that comes with it better. They are so freaking gorgeous!!

Review: Sigma E-45 Small Tapered Blending Brush

sigma e45 brush mac 226 dupe

Sigma's E45 small tapered blending brush is of course for blending. What makes this brush a little different from alot of other tapered blending brushes is it's pointy tip, making crease-work easier. It's pointy little tip allows you to get into those little spots with more precision. It's fluffiness still allows you to blend effortlessly.

sigma e45 brush mac 226 dupe

How-to use: Pick up color with just the tip and apply to crease to add depth and dimension to your eyes. The first thing I noted about this brush was how soft it was. I like that it's fluffy put still precise.

Most likely, you've heard that the Sigma E45 is a dupe for MAC's 226 brush. The two things that make this brush better are of course the price but also the tips are different. As a makeup artist, I want the best quality for the lowest price for my pro kit. The Sigma E45 also has a pointy tip whereas the MAC 226 is a bit rounded at the tip. I'd prefer the Sigma E45 for a tapered blending brush on myself because of my small eyes.

Do you use a tapered blending brush? If so, which one do you like to use?

Review: BH Cosmetics 10 Color Camouflage Concealer Palette

I've tried other concealers, but this my first concealer palette. Even though I'm a huge fan of BH Cosmetics eye shadow palettes, I was indecisive about purchasing this palette for awhile because of the price being extremely affordable. I wanted it to be good quality regardless of the inexpensive price. As an aspiring makeup up artist, I was pretty excited about all the different shades in the palette. I'm actually impressed with the quality of the concealers. The only con I have so far is that I wish there was a light green concealer; then it'd be perfect!

Color Ranges

The colors range from lightest to darkest tones with a few pink/salmon shades perfect for hiding blues such as under eye circles and veins. All of the shades are pretty creamy which is perfect especially for mixing to achieve your perfect shade. You want to make sure you set it with a powder whether it be translucent or a skin-tone shade powder. They're creamy without being too oily; just perfect for dry, oily or combination skin.

Even if you're not an MUA, you could probably find atleast 3 of these shades that could be useful.

1. Skin tone- Cover blemishes
2. Lighter than your skin- highlighting & hiding dark circles
3. Darker than your skin tone- Contouring and adding warmth to your face

I'd suggest, sanitizing your hands first, using your finger to apply the product. This will warm it up, make it easier to blend out and ensure you can get into your tricky spots.  Of course if you're using it on several clients, you'd like to use stainless steel products with the palette. Overall, I'm really impressed and I'm glad I purchased this palette!

Review: Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer

smashbox photo finish foundation primer

I've tried a few foundation primers before but never a "high-end" primer. I'm a firm believer in all types of primers so I feel like they're absolutely necessary just to prep and prime (no mac pun intended) your face, eyes, lips etc. In the next month or so I'll definitely be posting a huge informative post on primers.

I applied the primer after my moisturizer and before my foundation just in the T-zone (my preference). This primer made my face feel a lot more smoother than other primers I've tried. The primer has that silky silicone feel and it's colorless. It totally hid those little fine lines and creases that would normally stand out when you get up close and personal once you've applied your foundation. My foundation lasted all day, meaning I didn't have do powder touch ups throughout the day.

Major Ingredients:
Dimethicone
Trisiloxane
Silica
Safflower Seed Extract,
Water
Grape Seed Extract
Cola Acuminata Seed Extract
Camellia Oleifera Leaf Extract

This 60% water-based, oil free primer comes in four separate sizes. Prices range from $10-$50 at Sephora. Overall: I'm inlove with this primer. The only con is the price of course, but some things you have to invest in. I'd definitely use this on clients!

RiRi Hearts MAC Fall Collection Preview!!!

Rihanna broke the servers with both her RiRi Woo lipstick and Summer collection releases. Seriously, we all went nuts for those releases. Now Rihanna is back to release her Fall collection! The collection will be both online and in stores, which is a huge relief for those of us who can't get to a MAC counter..that way the city gals can head over to MAC and let the computer geeks order online..thus creating a less stressful experience in the 45minute shopping cart wait as in the past.

Beauty on a Budget Review: Wet n Wild Creme Eyeliner

wet n wild creme eyeliner

I've heard so many good things about this liner, from notable sources might I add. I contemplated purchasing it for about a month. I'm actually really glad I gave it a shot.

I purchased this from CVS, that's right CVS instead of Walgreens. I bought mine for $3.99! I felt almost guilty for doing so lol. The little container on this baby is so adorable. Of course it comes with a little angled brush, which is decent but I still prefer my BH Cosmetics Angled Brush.

The consisentency is alot creamier than most cream formulas I've tried. I just barely put the brush in and picked up a decent amount of product without having to diggg my way into the jar. The payoff is very black, which I love. I believe I've found my holy-grail eyeliner.

Alphabet Challenge: H is for Highlighter! What is it and where should you put it?

Welcome to Week 8 of the Alphabet Challenge <3 This week's letter is H. If you'd like info on how to join the Alphabet Challenge, read below. My H is for Highlighter. Today we'll be talking all about highlighters!

It's all about color and placement. When you used properly, your face can have an amazing, natural glow.

jennifer lopez
Jennifer Lopez, showing a healthy glow.

What & Why
Highlighters are used to do just that-highlight your face, not give your face this weird aura or make you appear oily. You could be extremely tired one day, but with highlighter the world would have a hard time telling. Use highlighter to give your face a healthy, natural glow. You want to appear dewy, like you've just applied moisturizer. Mind you, dewy..not wet.

Highlighting not only has it glowing effects-depending on where you put it, there's other helpful effects. Like what, you ask? Highlighting your brows (browbone included) gives them more shape and gives your eyes dimension. Want a slimmer nose? Use a highlight to draw attention to the bridge of your nose. If you don't have a defined cupid's bow -or if you do- highlighting your cupid's bow makes your lips look more defined and your lipstick look more elegant.

Best Formula?
Brow: powder

Undereyes: solid, cream

Face: Liquid

Don't forget to match textures: If you're wearing a cream or liquid foundation, choose a liquid or cream highlight to easily blend the two for a natural look.

Where To Put It?
  • Brow Bone
  • Temples
  • Nose Bridge
  • Above the Cheeks
  • Chin
  • Cupid's Bow

I've created my idea of a highlighted face chart. It's not the best but it's original. A for effort? If you think I deserve an 'A', hover over the image to pin it to pinterest!

where to put makeup highlighter

There's even more places to use your highlighter when contouring, but that is a whole other post.

Tips
  • Apply above your cheek bone to blush to allow the light to reflect off the top of your cheekbone
  • Apply after foundation and before concealer for a natural, even glow
  • Blend edges into foundation before placing a powder to set the highlight.
  • Translucent powder works best for highlighted areas.
  • Do not, I repeat, DO NOT forget to blend out your highlight. No harsh lines.

"Signature Look" Theme Makeup

Each week the lovely Aqeela hosts a tag with a different theme. This week's theme is 'Signature Look'. I have a few signature looks and they're mostly bright! On a typical day, you'll find me wearing neutral eyeshadow, either extreme winged liner or a pop of color somewhere on the eyes, and bright pink lips. My colorful mind can't handle wearing plain neutral eyes for too many days, so I have to add a pop of color.

Without further ado, here's my look, please forgive my wonderful(sarcasm) iPhone camera:

Review: BH Cosmetics Take me to Brazil Eyeshadow Palette

I love writing reviews. I think they're a great way to start off the week. I purchased this palette literally four days ago and it arrived today. Is that amazing shipping or what? BH Cosmetics orders used to take 7-10 days to arrive to my house, so A+ for BH Cosmetics. If you've been around my blog for more than a month, you know I've been faithful to this brand since 2010.

On to the Review
Wow, was my first impression. If you know me, you know I am a colorful girl and that's exactly what this palette is. Inspired by Brazil's most famous carnival, there are 28 vivid colors; excluding the two black and white shadows making this a one-of-a-kind 30 color palette.

What makes this palette different is..
  • Gorgeous artwork actually on the palette opposed to the usual artwork on the outside box while the palette packaging itself is plain black.
  • Has a fair share of both shimmer and matte shades.
  • Contains not just the vivids; but a large black and iridescent white perfect for highlighting, lining and creating a smokey eye.
I was definitely not disappointed with this palette, as usual with BH Cosmetics. Some of the shadows are slightly chalky making them easily blendable. I got minimal fall out which was one of the cons I had about BH Cosmetics eyeshadows. I'd give an A+.

Swatches
When I swatched with my fingertaps, the color payoff was amazing. Except, it dawned on me swatching fingertaps only work on a video. Nonetheless, the color payoff on the back of my hand was still pretty good. I can just see how well the colors will pop when used with a white base--ahh!
